ReplyDeleteIt is an extraordinary house in the neo-Gothic style so favoured by the Victorians. I went to a "Blue & Gold" Ball there more than 25 years ago, held in the Marble Hall. The next day we had a picnic on the beach, (rather rocky, as I recall), and a swim in the extraordinary swimming pool. I must go and see if I can find some photos of the occasion; I wore a gold lame bow tie and matching cummerbund, so must have looked a right plonker!

the dry voices that generally accompany such pieces.
The pantone or honeysuckle colours of the sofa and the carpet makes this classic ostentatious and fabulous building very in vogue right now...
ReplyDeletePD - in the 18th Century there is a Windsor (not to be confused with the House of Windsor)/Herbert (Earls of Pembroke) marriage that brought vast Welsh holdings to the Stuart family.
